Life-skills training and workshops to impart basic social and life skills to young people
The Missing Link Initiative is a minority, women-run non-profit organization in the Greater Hartford area, Connecticut. The Missing Link Initiative is plan and process designed to help young people regain stability by providing foundational steps and a safe place. We encourage community and relationship building. through workshops that teach participants how to set healthy boundaries and maintain healthier relationships. We provide a safe place to encourage conversation but more so interaction. We teach through demonstration and teamwork.
The Missing Link Initiative is a vision created through experience. Toshi Countryman-Bey through her personal life experiences and those around who looked at her peers as well as the youth she served and looked for a greater life impact.
Knowing the affects that drugs especially the crack era had taken on her community and the loss of leadership. Knowing first-hand what it was like to grow up to soon and miss steps in maturing. This coupled with the damage done by Covid and the disconnection isolation caused.
This is a 2-hr service project during which we will discuss the importance of giving back and will tie blankets together that will be distributed to nursing homes/ shelters and homeless individuals.
30 min online or in person bi-weekly meetings to discuss selected books and provide feedback. Books will be chosen by facilitator. The club will be used to encourage dialog and conversation.
This training is targetted at parents who have regular and routine care responsibilities of a child. The training involves discussions, instructions, demonstrations, and practice of therapeutic skills and protocol implementation.
This training program is targetted at parents and youth to provide an in-depth understanding of human trafficking and how not to fall prey.
